Obituary for Lawrence E. Love
Lawrence E. Love was born October 24th, 1944 in Crewe, VA to the late Hannah Love. He departed this life on October 29th, 2011 at Hunter Holmes McGuire VAMC in Richmond, VA. He was the youngest of five children, two of which preceded him in death.
At an early age he accepted Christ and was baptized and joined the Union Baptist Church in Crewe, VA. He was educated in the Nottoway County Schools.
After school he was drafted into the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. After completing his tour of duty, he was Honorably Discharged.
Lawrence was employed at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital for a number of years, he later worked at the Burkeville Veneer Plant until they closed. After that he worked for Blackstone Manufactory until his illness forced him to stop working. He was a hard worker and always provided well for his family.
His illness never kept him down and he never complained no matter how ill he was, he would always say, “I’m alright”.
On October 21st, 1995, he married his long time sweetheart, Goldie Johnson, and remained faithful until his passing.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of sixteen years, Goldie Love; one son, Dwaine Allen of Crewe, VA; three step daughters, Stephanie Watson, Sylinda Johnson (Leonard) and Syletha Bell (James) all of Blackstone, VA; two step sons, Michael Johnson of Blackstone, VA, Andre Johnson (Gloria) of Rice, VA; thirteen grandchildren, one devoted MyKwan Yancey; ten great grandchildren, one devoted Tylasia Taylor; one sister, Bertha Bland of Crewe, VA; one brother, William Love (Lillie) of Crewe, VA; two brothers-in-law, John Madison and Ronald Andrews (Geary) of Appomattox, VA; three sisters-in-law, Carol Jackson and Brenda Johnson of Appomattox, VA and Brenda Madison of Richmond, VA; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Madison of Appomattox, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; two devoted family friends, Cloyd Tucker and Leonard Wallace of Blackstone, VA.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Crewe with interment in the Amelia Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
