Obituary for Lavenia Scott Royal
Lavenia Royal was born on January 5, 1934 in Richmond, VA to Ulysses and Fannie Scott. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 in Anderson, SC.
She was educated in and graduated from the Amelia County School system. At an early age she was baptized at Union Branch Baptist Church in Amelia and remained a lifelong member. She was also a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church in Plainfield, NJ for over fifty years.
Lavenia worked at Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkely Heights, NJ for many years, retiring a few years ago.
She married Eugene Royal, Sr., who preceded her in death, and from this union three children were born: Eugene Royal, Jr. (Melody) of Sierra Vista, AZ, Sherry Coney (Jerome) of Anderson, SC and Duane Royal (Frances) of Gurley, AL. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Jerome Coney, III and Lavenia Coney of Anderson, SC and Christopher Royal of Gurley, AL; two sisters: Ruth Eggleston of Farmville, VA and Pauline Mobley (Thomas) of Charlotte, NC; two sisters-in-law: Sally McDaniel of Plainfield, NJ and Helen Brown of Hampton, VA; one brother-in-law: Albert Royal (Annie) of Piscataway, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Monday, October 19, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, Church Road, VA with interment in the church cemetery.
