Obituary for Lauvinia A. Redd
LAUVINIA ADA REDD, daughter of the late Melvin and Catherine Lee was born January 12, 1935, in Prince Edward County.  She departed this life on August 15, 2011.
LAUVINIA ADA REDD, also know to many as Lou, was educated in Edgmere, MD.  At the age of eighteen she married Robert Redd, Sr. on May 30, 1953.  From this union they were blessed with five children, one preceded her in death, Robert N. Redd, Jr.
LAUVINIA ADA REDD was a dedicated mother and housewife for many years.  In the early 1960’s, she started working at Damkmyer Prosthetic, from which she retired in 1996.  Lauvinia was a hard worker and an asset to all.  In the neighborhood where she raised her family, she was loved by everyone and known as “Mom”.
LAUVINIA ADA REDD joined David Memorial Church in 1996 at the age of forty-one and was baptized to a full membership.  She also was a member of the United Baptist Women of America, where she worked with the community, friends and neighbors to feed the homeless, along with doing many other activities to include fundraising.  Lauvinia was also a member of the El-Casino Club.  Her hobbies were, ceramics, gardening and all outside activities.  She loved to sing God’s words.  She was a fun loving person who loved to travel all over.  After she retired and moved to Rice, VA, she joined High Rock Baptist Church where she was involved in many activities until she became ill.
LAUVINIA ADA REDD leaves to cherish her memories:  her husband, Robert Redd, Sr.; one son, Sylvester; three daughters, Joyce, Joanne and Deborah; twelve grandchildren, Ronald Booker, who she raised as her child, Paris Redd, Charles Bass, Angela Whitfield, Charles Weems, Charles Stewart, Anthony Redd, who was there with her in her last days, Keisha Pinkneg, Sylvester Redd, Jr., Chemere Tate, Gregory Trogdon and Damon Trogdon; eighteen great grandchildren; one uncle, Elton Fisher; one son-in-law, Calvin Scott; one sister-in-law, Calvin Scott; one sister-in-law, Gloria Coles; two brothers-in-law, Arthur Redd and Clarence Redd; one stepsister, Manuleta Lee; and many loving cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at High Rock Baptist Church, Rice, VA with interment on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Gwynn Oaks, MD.
