Obituary for Larry Darnell Green
Larry Darnell Green entered into eternal rest on December 2, 2009. He was born February 10, 1956 to the late Hampton Green Jr. and Gracie Banks Green of Blackstone, VA. He was the thirteenth of fifteen children. He was preceded in death by Hampton Green III, Virginia Hardy, Carrie Green, Minnie Kennedy, Evelyn Scott, and Pauline Holliday.
Larry joined Springhill Baptist Church at an early age. He was educated in the Nottoway Public Schools. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the United States Air Force and worked as an aircraft mechanic. When he retired from the USAF until his death, he resided in Hampton, VA. He loved being a dad, hunting, and watching sports.
He leaves to treasure his memory:Â one daughter, Gabriel Green of Hampton, VA and her mother Barbara; two God daughters, Kim Craig of Collinsville, VA and Nikkia Red of New Orleans, LA; five sisters, Annie Jones (Earl) of Blackstone, VA, Thelma Purcell of Baltimore, MD, Ruth Campbell (Charles) of Clinton, MD, Joyce Green of Washington, DC, and Cordelia Green of Oxon Hill, MD; three brothers, Clarence Green Sr. (Margie) of Richmond, VA; Karl Green Sr. of Blackstone, VA, and Henry Green (Della) of Newport News, VA; three brothers-in-law, Mathis Kennedy of South Carolina, Jesse Holliday of North Carolina, and Tommy Joe Hardy of Blackstone, VA; nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Monday, December 7, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone with intement in the church cemetery.
