Obituary for Lanwood W. Lynch, Sr.
Lanwood Wayne Lynch, Sr., was born to the late Althia Lynch Bland on July 23, 1931. He died peacefully at home on October 19, 2020.
Lanwood was educated in the Nottoway County Public School System. He was baptized at an early age and joined Hickory Grove Baptist Church. He later joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church were he served as Treasurer until his health prevented him from serving.
Lanwood joined the United States Air Force and then the United States Army and served twenty-three years until his retirement. After retiring from the army, he worked as a truck driver for the L&M Express Company until it’s closure. He served as Union Stewart for his fellow workers at L&M. After the closure, he worked several other jobs that included a warehouse worker at Fort Picket and a bus driver for both Kenston Forest and Nottoway schools.
Lanwood married Betty R. Fuller on January 5, 1955. They remained happily married until her death on January 14, 1998. To this union three children were born.
Lanwood married Donna Fay Jennings on August 1, 2003. They remained happily married until his death. To this union one son was born.
Lanwood leaves to mourn: his devoted wife of seventeen years, Donna J. Lynch; three sons, James and Lanwood Jr. (Martha) of Richmond, VA, Brandon R. Bowler of Crewe, VA; three daughters, Betsy Lee (Timothy, deceased) of Richmond, Zelma A. Adams of Hackensack, NJ and Felicia Allen of Crewe, VA; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Alfonza Lynch (Cornet) of Norfolk, VA; one sister, Veronica Cornick (Jerome, deceased); one sister-in-law, Lois Lewis (Roosevelt, deceased); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Crewe. Interment, Monday, October 26, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.
