Obituary for Lacy F. Cooke
MRS. LACY FITZGERALD WILLIAMS COOKE slipped away in death on August 1, 2010 at the Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill, VA. We shall forever praise God for the days she was with us.
She was born in Nottoway County to the late Thomas Fitzgerald and Bertha Fitzgerald Eppes. She was baptized under the leadership of the Reverend L. A. Wilson and became a member of the Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church. She was educated in Nottoway County.
Sister Cooke moved to Richmond, VA for employment. After residing in Richmond for a while, she became affiliated with The Sharon and The Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, but she always kept her membership at Mt. Gazerine by attending when she could and financially.
In her first marriage to the late Norman Williams, Sr., God blessed them with two children, Norman Williams, Jr., and Augusta Williams Moss who both preceded her in death.
On August 14, 1975, she was united in marriage to the late James O. Cooke.
After failing health, she moved back and resided at Heritage Hall, where for many years she was active in all activities. (Winning wheel chair races, worship services and talking).
She leaves to cherish her memories: a granddaughter Ms. Chevelle Moss (Chauncey); a grandson Will Moss (Janice); three great grandchildren Brandon, Khaliq and Malcolm; one devoted caring niece Connie J. Scott (Lee); a devoted great niece Shiras; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service Friday, August 6, 2010 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone in charge of the cemetery.
