Obituary for Kate 'Jackie' Knight
Kate “Jackie” Knight, daughter of Martha Parker and the late William Parker, Sr. was born March 11, 1943 in Crewe, VA.
Jackie was educated in the Nottoway School System.  She accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Union Baptist Church.
After completing her education, Jackie relocated to New York City and married Matthew L. Knight of Crewe, VA.  Three sons were born to this union, Ronald who preceded her in death, Roger and Matthew.
Jackie retired from Paine Webber and returned to Crewe.  Although she was retired, she never stopped working, her ministry of help continued until the Lord called her home.  She loved the Lord, and lived to serve others.  Her family and friends describe her as compassionate, loving, benevolent and selfless.  She was known for putting others before herself, and over the years she served as a caregiver to many.
Jackie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.   Her surprise visits, frequent phone calls, presence at family gatherings, cards and other loving memories will be treasured for a lifetime.
She leaves to cherish her memory:  her husband, Matthew L. Knight Sr.; two sons, Roger (Deborah) of Brooklyn, NY, Matthew (Jacqueline) of Cookstown, NJ, her adopted son James Ellis of Atlanta, GA; three granddaughters, Natasha, Caitylne, and Ciara of Cookstown, NJ; mother, Martha Parker of Crewe, VA; two brothers, Aubrey and William of Crewe, VA; sister, Cynthia Ball (Stan) of Columbus, OH; nephew, Kyle Ball of Columbus, OH; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
