JOYCE LORRAINE LELAND departed from this life on Friday, September 9, 2011 at her mother’s home in Blackstone, VA. Joyce was a native of Nottoway County (Blackstone, VA). She was born June 21, 1951. She is the daughter of Rebecca Johnson Irby of Blackstone, VA and Tommie King of Desota, TX.
Joyce was first baptized at the Adam Clayton Powell Church in New York City. When she moved back to Virginia she was baptized at the Manassa Hill Baptist Church in Amelia, VA.
Joyce was a loving, friendly and fun loving individual. She was always smiling and trying to be helpful to everyone she met. She always found something good in everyone to compliment and made everyone feel special. Since Joyce passing was so sudden she would like everyone to remember her for her love of life. Joyce will be greatly missed.
Joyce leaves to cherish fond memories:Â her mother, Rebecca (Conrad) Irby; step sisters and step brothers, Aurora Edmonds, Paula Hawkes, Carolyn Johnson, Cynthia Sydnor, Linda King Hunter (Albium), Tommie (Connie) King, Terri (Linda) Lewis; aunts, Rosa Clarke of Amelia, VA, Yolinda (Charlie) Harvey of Baltimore, MD, Virginia (Ernest) Dudley of Baltimore, MD, Thomas (Paulette) Peace of Baltimore, MD and an adopted aunt, Elizabeth Peace; Brenda Smith, Lula Griffin, Larry Walker and Jack Thomas all of West Petersburg that was special to her heart; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Manassa Hill Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
