Obituary for Joyce 'Kitty' Lewis
Joyce "Kitty" Tucker-Lewis departed this life on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
Kitty was born in Blackstone, Virginia on August 22, 1959, to the late Leon Edward Tucker and Carrie Tee Tucker. At a young age, she became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Kitty attended Nottoway Sr. High School. She later went on to work at Heritage Hall, in their custodial department.
Kitty truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures—dancing like no one was ever watching, cooking delicious meals, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog, China. She was truly one of a kind. Kitty will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Kitty leaves to cherish her memory, her spouse, Barbie Lewis of Amelia, Virginia; three loving children: son, Carl Anderson Jr. (Malaika) of Henrico, Virginia, and daughters, Rhonda J. Lewis of Richmond, Virginia, and Tesha N. Anderson of Richmond, Virginia, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. She is also survived by her 2 brothers, Roy Tee of Atlanta, Georgia, and Alonzo Tucker (Phyllis) of Blackstone, Virginia; 2 sisters, Kathleen Neal (James) of Blackstone, Virginia, and Elongra “Jean” Anderson (devoted cousin who was like a sister) of Richmond, Virginia, loving nieces and nephew: April Tucker, Jamesha Tucker, and Christopher Neal (Shauna); dear friend, Jimmy Gray, and a host of other special family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Leon Tucker, and grandmother, Lula Bell Tucker.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 9th at noon at 504 East Street, Blackstone, Virginia 23824.
