Obituary for Joseph Love
Monday, January 11,2021 God told Joe your job here is done and took him by the
hand to walk the paved streets of Gold.

Joseph was born to Julia Francis Love and (Rev. David Equilla Gordon) in the
town of Jetersville, VA. He was the oldest of 6; preceded in death by the youngest,
Sonya Robinson. Later in life he was connected with his brothers Reginald and
Erik Gordon.

He was named after his Beloved Uncle Joe Lewis who helped guide him in life and
from this an incredible, indestructible bond was formed. Buck Hanna was a name
given to him by his late Great Aunt Amanda. Later he was affectionately known as
Buck.

Joseph was educated in the Amelia and Nottoway County School Systems. He
later joined the Marine Corps at the age of 19. May 6, 1971 he married his
childhood sweetheart, Jacqueline, and from this union his Dynamite T & T were
born: Trina and Towanna. While in The U.S. Marine Corps Joe was trained in
MCI – Sea Duty Indoctrination, Tact Marine Rifle Plt., NCO Leadership, The
Marine NCO and Panama CZ-Jungle Training Warfare. In March of 1973 he was
Honorably discharged with Medals for National Defense ServiceM-16, Vietnamese
Service w/1* and Vietnam Commendation. He received an Expert Shooting
Badge and Letters of Appreciation. After being discharged from The Marine Corps
he joined his wife Jackie and Oldest Daughter Trina in Philadelphia. While in
Philadelphia he became one of The First Male Bell Telephone Operators.

Joe was a protector by nature and believed it was his job to provide and care for
his family. He loved his family and always wanted the best for them. He was
excited for any accomplishments his family made; he kept any news article
clippings that pertained to them. He was a very intelligent man; in school Math
was his best subject; he carried this trait throughout his life. Joe could hold a
conversation with the best of the best and talk you into the wee hours of the
morning. Researching information and Reading was things he loved to do; the
Bible was by far his favorite book to read.

Buck was preceded in death by his Nephew Terrence F. El II and Son-in-law
