Obituary for Joseph L. Crowder
JOSEPH L. CROWDER, SR affectionately known as “Punkin” departed this life suddenly Monday, April 25, 2016 at Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, VA. Joseph was the youngest of his siblings born May 12, 1956 in Powhatan, VA. He is preceded in death by his father Deacon Joseph A. Crowder, two sons Joseph and Andrew Crowder.
At an early age Joseph was baptized and became a member of the Union Branch Baptist Church Jetersville, VA. Joseph attended the Amelia County School system. He had a passion for driving dump trucks in which he did for over 30 years. Joseph loved his family and being around the guy’s reminiscing about the good old days. He would often say my favorite hymn is “Swing Low Sweet Chariot Coming to Carry Me Home”.
Joseph leaves to cherish his memories a loving mother Deaconess Mary Crowder; daughter LaMar Crowder; mother of his children Vanessa Crowder; two sisters Phyllis Sheff (Ronald) and Barbara Sheff (Robert); brother Dallas Crowder (Barbara); adopted sister Jackie Wilkinson; six grandchildren, DeVante, Keyaira, Keyandre, Keyonna, Krystal, and Lanay; two aunts Shirley Trent (John) and Florine Bailey; two uncles Hiram Dickerson (Joyce) and Robert Dickerson (Sallie); host of nieces - devoted Ronda and Kathy; nephews - devoted Kisma; cousins, other relatives, and friends among them Eldridge Robinson (fishing partner) Gary Booker, James Royal and Percy Smith.
