Obituary for Joseph Day
Joseph Albert (Bert) Day, son of Deaconess Mattie Lee Day and the late Deacon William E. Day, Sr. of Burkeville, VA was born on December 4, 1963. He departed this life on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Richmond, VA.
At an early age, he confessed Christ and was baptized at the Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Jetersville. He later joined The Jesus Center in Appomattox, VA. Most recently he attended Mt. Gilead Full Gospel Church in Richmond, where he worshipped until his health began to fail.
Joe was a graduate of Nottoway County High School. He attended St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA. He was a cheerful, fun-loving, giving person; he loved to fish. He loved people and he had many friends. Our hearts and home have suffered an aching void, but we bow humbly to God’s will.
He was preceded in death by a devoted sister, Minister Sandra Blackwell but leaves to cherish his memory:Â a loving mother, Mattie L. Day; sisters, Jeanette L. Harrison, Mattie (Melvin) Nunnally, Mabel Day, devoted sister and brother-in-law, First Lady, Minister Daisy D. Foster and Pastor Lowell Foster, Judith D. (Donald) Hudson and Joyce D. Jefferson; one brother, William E. (Debbie) Day, Jr.; uncles, aunts, five nieces, one devoted Danyelle F. (Dunnie) Ogundaisie; four nephews; two great nieces; one great nephew whom he adored Caleb Ogundaisie; cousins, devoted friends, other relatives and friends.
