Obituary for John P. Friend, Jr.
John (Sonny) P. Friend, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 19, 2013. Son of the late Marie and John Friend, he was born in Nottoway County, VA April 8, 1950.
After attending Nottoway County Public School, he moved to Richmond, VA and obtained his GED.
Sonny worked in construction as a brick layer for many years. He also worked as a landscaper, and whatever you asked him to do around the yard or home, he was willing to do it.
He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Eartha Hastings of New Jersey and Angela Carter of Richmond, VA; the family Matriarch, Edmonia Yates; his twin sister, Evelyn Friend of Blackstone, VA, three other sisters, Ellen Smith of Washington , NC, Josephine Green of Richmond, VA and Annie Friend of Blackstone, VA; a brother, George Friend of Blackstone, VA; nieces, Maria Friend, Khadijah Johnson and Deborah Jennings; nephews, James Jennings, George Watson and Anthony Friend; great nieces and nephews, Tramaine, Antonio, Tia and Simya Jennings, Joseph Johnson III, and Josiah Johnson; other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Sunday May 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Level Baptist Church, Amelia, VA with interment in the church cemetery.
