Obituary for John Jefferson, Jr.
John Jefferson, Jr. was born on June 4th, 1942 in Blackstone, Virginia. He was one of two boys born to Ethel and John Jefferson. 

He graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in 1960. He moved to New Jersey where he worked as a chef in Atlantic City before moving back to Blackstone in 1991.

John was married in 1976 to Rose Marie DeVastey and from their union one daughter was born, Ethel.  His wife preceded him in death in 1984.

After returning to Blackstone he became a staple figure at Springhill Baptist Church joining the Pastor’s Aide and Alter Guild.

John died on July 23rd in Richmond, Virginia at the age of 75.
John is survived by his daughter, Ethel Ward (Marc), of Burke, Virginia; his brother, Robert Jefferson (Janet) of Atlantic City; two grandsons, Myles and Ethan Ward; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral Service Friday, July 28, 2017 at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
