Obituary for John H. Clements, Sr.
JOHN HARRY CLEMENTS, Sr. was born April 27, 1935, to the late Jerry and Grace Clements in Powhatan, VA. He died peacefully on April 13, 2011 in Powhatan, VA. He was the youngest of five children and this earned him the nick-name of Bro-Boo.
He was a lifelong resident of Powhatan (Macon), VA. He was educated in the Powhatan County Public School Systems. As an adult, he joined Pine Hill Baptist Church. He worked at Martin Chevrolet/Whitlow Chevrolet for 29 years as a mechanic until his retirement.
He had a caring heart and always assisted others with fixing their cars. He loved to drive, and provided many with rides to work or to Dr’s. appointments. For relaxation, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, listening to the radio, and hanging out with his childhood friends.
On December 24, 1958, he married Caroline Jefferson from Amelia, VA., and to this union four children were born; John, Jr., Isabel, Christopher and Terry.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 52 years, Caroline Jefferson Clements, a daughter Isabel Pearson (Wayne) of Chesterfield, VA., three sons; Master Sargeant, USAF, John Clements, Jr., Retired (Consandra) of Fayetteville, NC., Christopher and Terry Clements of Powhatan, VA. He was blessed with three grand-children; Angela Taylor (Cedric), of Ft. Campbell, KY., Wayne Pearson, Jr. and Jonathan (JP) Pearson of Chesterfield, VA., and two great-grand children DeAsia and Damon Taylor. Sisters Jacqueline Brown of Richmond, VA., & Isabel Harris (deceased) and two brothers; Alburn Clements (Addie) of Powhatan, VA., and Kermit Clements (Martha) of Richmond, VA., sister-in-law Rose Mary Ellis and two brother-in-laws; Ellis Harris and Larry Jefferson, host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will visit with friends Monday, April 18, 2011 at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Pine Hill Baptist Church, Powhatan with interment in the church cemetery.
