He attended elementary school where he excelled to Luther H. Foster High School. After graduating John served his time with the Air Force, he served his time in the service and was rewarded with an Honorable discharge. When John returned from the military he met his wife Dorothy and from that union were born two sons John Jr. and Randy.
John decided to continue his life in Washington D.C. He worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital for years until he retired. John expressed his love and faithfulness to the Lord by giving his life to Christ. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Brown, John was a Trustee, he helped with the Hospitality Committee and was a member of the Men and Adult Gospel Choir.
John, as a family man was a dependable, extraordinary and exceptional father, and a hard Worker. John had his social activities which were fishing, music and dancing and he loved to play Biz Wiz.
John’s personality was second to none. He was a man who always saw the positive in any situation. He was also eager to help others. The Lord said, “Welcome home my Good and Faithful Servant!” To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and that is where you are. Rest in Heavenly Peace our Loving father and Brother John Eddie Hicks.
