Obituary for John C. Kelly
John Clifford Kelly transitioned from earth to heaven on Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was born on September 10, 1943 in West Mifflin, PA to the late John Q. and Odessa L. Kelly.
He graduated from Braddock High School in 1963. He was later drafted into the military in 1963 and was honorably discharged as a SP-4 in July 1969. He then joined the Army National Guard, and attended Southside Virginia Training Center where he studied plumbing. He went on to work at Brown & Williamson, Nottoway Public Schools, and his last place of employment was Wal-Mart for 13 years before his declining health.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Lawson and Evelyn Mellix, two brothers, Leo and Hubert “Bo” Kelly and his father-in-law, James (Jim) Tucker.
He met and married the love of his life, Claudia Marie Tucker on July 17, 1965 and from this union was blessed with six children of which one daughter, Carolleen M. Kelly, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and very devoted wife of 47 years, Claudia Marie Tucker and five children, Lisa-Marie K. (Scott) (James) Ghee of Richmond, VA; John C. II(Natarsha) Kelly of Dinwiddie, VA; Orlando B. Kelly of Richmond, VA; Moliere’ R. Kelly of Blackstone, VA; James T. (Amanda) Kelly of Jonesboro, TN; His mother-in-law, Ernestine S. Tucker of Blackstone, VA.
Three sisters and one brother, Marva Rowell of Rankin, PA; Patricia “Maxine” (Paul) Johnson of Duquesne, PA; Raymond (Vera) Kelly of Rankin, PA; and Carol K. (Alvin) Smith of Jeffersonville, PA. Eight sisters-in-law: Ethel Elizabeth Kelly of Braddock, PA; Elizabeth Kelly of Braddock, PA; Brenda T. Boykins of Philadelphia, PA; Barbara L. Jones of Kenbridge, VA; Annie T. Williams, Ruby T. Love and Tuandra Y. Spratley all of Blackstone, VA, and Ernestine (Kevin) Bingham of Atlanta, GA.
He also leaves seventeen grandchildren, Bre’Anna and Darrian Scott, Morgan Wilkerson, TaJonae, Moriah, Monte, John III, J’iovanni, Keona Jennings, Tavon, Shaquanna, ShaTara, Madison, LaQuita, Stephen Baldwin, Glenn, and Jason Kelly. Two step grandchildren, Yolanda James & Javon Ghee, and two step great grandchildren, Mary and Jeremy Ghee. God daughter Shomonique Jones, and God sister Martha Mae Lee.
A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Some very close and devoted friends, Thomas Boose, Webster Boose, James Williams and Melvin Vincent.
Funeral Services Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
