Obituary for John Abbott
On August 1, 2011, early in the morning God called his special servant home, JOHN ABBOTT. He departed this life into a peaceful rest at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Blackstone, VA. He was born on May 12, 1920 in Lunenburg County to the late Carrie Abbott and Ward Abbott.
He married the late Novella Cleary Abbott and they were blessed with eleven children, Cornelia Cleary, Milton Cleary, John Frisby, Melvin Frisby, Carl Abbott and Madeline Abbott Sumpter who preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn, Shirley Hardy, Waverly Frisby, Leon Abbott, Ernestine Abbott Tucker, all of Blackstone, VA and Ernest Abbott of Norfolk, MA.
He later married Virginia Dailey Abbott and from this union they had five children, Gladys (Roscoe) Anderson, Lisa (Donte’) Parham, Jacqueline Lee Abbott, Kenneth Abbott and Carter Abbott.
He also leaves to mourn, twenty-five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, James Hawkes of Baltimore, MD; and a host of nieces, nephews and many loving friends of Blackstone.
Family will visit with friends on Friday, August 5 at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 12 noon at Cellar Creek Baptist Church, Blackstone with intermen in the Greenview Cemetry, Blackstone.
