Obituary for Jincie E. Fitzgerald
Jincie Eppes Fitzgerald was blessed with 96 years of life. She departed this life on Friday, January 29, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blackstone, Virginia. She was born in Nottoway County on June 6, 1913 to the family of the late Alex and Pattie Lou Ingram Eppes. Siblings, Fannie Fowlkes, David Eppes, Sally E. Booker, Joe, William, Norman Eppes and Roberta Eppes Allen, preceded her in death. Immanuel, Lisa and Leon Hurte are her great grandchildren, they preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ in the early 1980’s and became a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Nottoway, Virginia. She lived her life according to God’s Word and kept his Holy Covenant until her illness. She believed in the Lord Jesus Christ. She loved her family, pastor and the church family.
She served for a short period of time at the Cedar Street Baptist Church of God in Richmond, Virginia as an honorary member of the Hattie E. Kemp and The Dorcas Missionaries for two years (2001-2002), under the pastorate of Dr. Benjamin W. Robertson, Sr.
She was married to her late husband Willie Fitzgerald for over 50 years. They had two sons, Weslie and Alex Fitzgerald and two daughters, Edith F. Hurte and Ola F. Jones.
She is survived by two sons, Weslie Fitzgerald (Mary) of Browns Mills, NJ and Alex Lynwood Fitzgerald of Hopewell, VA; two daughters, Edith F. Hurte (Gilbert, Sr.) of Richmond, VA and Ola F. Jones (James) of Ford, VA; nine grandchildren, Gilbert D. Hurte, Jr. (Stacy) of Aberdeen, MD, Guilliam D. Hurte (Rebecca) of Skipper, VA, Weslie Fitzgerald, Jr. of Browns Mills, NJ, Gregg Jones of Philadelphia, PA, Tamara Eppes of Hopewell, VA, Stacy and Tracy Wells of Crewe, VA, Melvin Dickson, Sr. of Richmond, VA and Alex Fitzgerald, Jr. of Charles City, VA; ten great grandchildren, Gilbert D. Hurte, III, Bernard S. Hurte, Imari J. Hurte of Aberdeen, MD, Guilliam D. Hurte, Jr. of Skipper, VA, Melvin, DaQuan and Jonathan Dickson of Richmond, VA, Camille Tucker of Hopewell, VA, Analise and Jalyn Fitzgerald of Browns Mills, NJ and a devoted niece, Christine Jennings of Crewe, VA and a host of nieces of Martinsville, VA and New Jersey; nephews of New York and Chicago, other close relatives and friends far and near.
Funeral Services Friday, February 5, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
