Obituary for Jimmie R. Goodman
Jimmie Rand Goodman, son of the late Lester Goodman and Laura Alice Richardson, was born May 9, 1925 in Amelia, VA. He departed this life on January 6, 2014.
Jimmie was raised in Amelia, VA. He later moved to Dover, DE where he married Grace Sullivan. This union was blessed with two children, Janice and Jimmie.Â
Jimmie began driving trucks and enjoyed a career of many years of truck driving in Long Island, NY.Â
Jimmie and the late Nancy Mae Kirk was blessed with three children Sonya, Keith and Kathy.Â
Jimmie was a hard working man who enjoyed cars and trucks with his brother Earl. They often bought and worked on cars in their leisure time. Ever the handyman, he would often fix and build things around the house without technical training.
Jimmie was quite a family man, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews.Â
Jimmie was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers and is survived by his children, Janice Lewis, Jimmie R. Goodman of Dover, DE, Sonya Goodman and Kathy Goodman of Amelia, VA and Keith Goodman (Sue) of Long Island, NY; ten grandchildren, Stacey and Thomas Lewis of Dover, DE, Jaime Goodman DeFazia of Orange, NJ, Nicole Crawford of New Castle, DE, Tynekia, Jasmine, Christopher, Randy Goodman of Amelia, VA, Shane and Bryce Goodman of Long Island, NY; seven great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Early (Mary) and Ralph Goodman of Amelia, VA; two sisters, Laura Delaney of Long Island, NY and Sara Delaney of Amelia, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Mr. Goodman will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Little Union Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
