Obituary for Jim'Esha R. Gray Walker
Jim’Esha Renee Gray Walker, daughter of Carl and Serlena Walker and Jimmy Lee and Diane Gray departed this life on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at UVA Hospital in Charlotteville, VA after years of battling Sickle Cell Disease.
Jim’Esha missed many days from school due to her illness, however she was blessed to be able to graduate from high school.
Jim’Esha was baptized at Pentecostal COGIC at a very early age. She was active in the youth department and sang soprano on the Praise and Worship Team. Her favorite lead solo song was “I Will Rejoice and Be Glad”. Jim’Esha later joined the Missionary Department and used her own money to purchase items for those in need. During many hospital stays she ministered to and encouraged many patients, young and old to keep their faith as she battled her pain. Jim’Esha was part of a Christian Trio consisting of two close friends from the womb, Lashaunda Coles and LeAnn Coles, these three were stuck together like glue.
Jim’Esha leaves to cherish her memories: her parents Carl and Serlena Walker and Jimmy and Diane Gray; two brothers Jemel (Ericka) and Jimmarious; one sister Khalani; three nephews Jeremiah, Karmelo and Marquees; one niece Tahniyla; devoted grandmother, Audrey Johnson; great-great grandmother, Thelma Ingram; two devoted cousins Keymia White and William Drew; a devoted fiancé Andre Brown Poindexter and his mother and father who treated Jim’Esha like their own; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relative and friends who loved her unconditionally.
