Obituary for Jermaine Lamont Crawley
Jermaine Lamont Crawley, Sr. 40, entered into eternal rest on July 10, 2020. He was the youngest of four children born to Melvin Crawley Sr. (deceased) and Geraldyne Crawley Owens.
Jermaine was a fun loving guy who enjoyed life to the fullest. His passion was truck driving. He also enjoyed fishing, trying different foods, grilling (he thought he was a Grill Master), music (oldies but goodies), and dancing. Jermaine was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan and a big fan of old cars attending shows whenever he could. He loved to travel and spend time with family and friends.
Jermaine was educated in the Amelia and Chesterfield County public schools. He was a sociable person which made him popular in school.
Jermaine’s love of trucks and driving led him to seek employment with TYS Hauling Co. and S. B. Cox Hauling Co. One of his earliest employment was with the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Jermaine gave his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. Throughout his life he served in several churches – Mt. Gilead Full Gospel and Mt. Olive Baptist Church to name a few. His favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. “Order My Steps in Your Word” and “The Battle Is Not Yours” were his two favorite Gospel songs.
Jermaine was preceded in death by his sister Leah Crawley.
Jermaine is survived by his children Imani Jane Crawley and Jermaine Jr.; mother & stepfather, Geraldyne and Joseph Owens Jr.; brothers: Melvin Crawley Jr. (Karen), Brian Crawley, Donnie Owens (Nedra); grandmother: Queen Anderson; fiancée Alexia Swann; nieces: Jaleah & Amari Crawley, Diamond, Jada & Kayla Owens; nephews: Malik, Joey, Ahmir, & Jaden Crawley; aunts: Amber Hillard (Harold), Tonette Howell, Geneva Cummins (Winston); Lillie Mae Green, Dorothy Rudd, Josephine & Mazeline Crawley, devoted “aunt” Claudette Crawley; Mary Ann Jennings, Arlethia McIver (Bruce), Brenda Butler (Herbert); uncles: Michael White, Linwood Anderson; Percell Owens (Marie), Isaac Owens (Joan), William Owens (Joyce), Robert Owens (Rosa); Godmother Valerie Foster; great-aunt Delseta White; step-grandparents Margie S. & Joseph Owens, Sr.; and a host of cousins and friends.
