Jeffery Oliver Patterson, “Jay Luv”, was born November 3, 1971, to Crawley and Corrine Patterson. He was called home on February 27, 2025, by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jeffery was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age in Blackstone, Virginia. He attended Nottoway County Public Schools and graduated in 1992. Jeffery started working at the age of 16 at Spencer’s Drug Store. He was employed at Meherrin River Forest in Crewe, Virginia.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents, Crawley Patterson, Sr. and Corrine Patterson. Jeffery leaves to cherish his love and memories to his devoted sons, Kaiser and Omarion Patterson of Blackstone, Virginia and he was extremely proud of his sons (the mother of his children, Carletha Craig); three brothers, Kennedy Patterson of Baltimore, Maryland, Crawley Jr. and Francis both of Blackstone, Virginia; one sister, Tammy Greene of Blackstone, Virginia; two nieces, Tanika Jones (Wallace) of Sandston, Virginia and Tiara Dagner of Backstone, Virginia; four nephews, Crawley III, Damian, Ty-Shawn and Cornelius; three great nieces, Mi’Asia, Cherish and Kamoree; one great nephew, Karon; two godchildren, Cartrelia Morgan and Devonte Elder; three aunts, Gertrude Elder and Morrine Patterson both of Blackstone, Virginia and Elnora Crawley of Baltimore, Maryland; one uncle, Danny Elder (Rene) of Henrico, Virginia; one devoted cousin/sister, Floreace Claiborne of Dinwiddie, Virginia; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Jay Luv was well-known by everyone that knew him. He loved to party, dance and of course he had to have his beer. Some people, such as his sister, would tell you that Jay Luv got on their nerves, but you loved every minute of him being around or having him around.
Jay Luv could be seen at a table playing Bid Whist or in a yard playing horseshoes. He had a great sense of humor and would make anyone smile or laugh with his silliness or dances. You could always catch Jay Luv on the dance floor doing a two-step or the Butterfly. He could be seen on the dance floor by himself and loving it. In Jay Luv’s younger days, he would be seen doing the Kid ’n Play with his partner who was also his best friend, the late Mollere Kelly. The two made-up the Dynamic Duo. They would later become the “Two Man Posse”.
Jay Luv would always have a fresh pair of sneakers on, a trait he had since high school, a fresh haircut is something he would have and made it a weekly visit with his son, Kaiser.
