Obituary for Jane Lee Archer
JANE LEE ARCHER departed this life on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the Amelia Nursing Home in Amelia, VA. She was born to the late David and Agnes Branch Ward on December 19, 1920.
She attended Promise Land School in Amelia, VA. At the age of ten years, in 1930, she was baptized at the Promise Land Baptist Church by Reverend Isaiah Wilkerson.
It was on December 30, 1939 that Jane united in holy matrimony with James J. Archer. This union was blessed with six children, Janice, Alice Lou, Steven, Ronnie, Mary Agnes, and David Lee who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, James J. Archer; two daughters, Janice Archer Perser and Alice Lou (Eddie) Truitt of White Plains, NY; two sons, James Steven (Alice) Archer and Ronnie (Tammy) Archer of White Plains, NY; stepdaughter, Pam (Chris) Hamlet of White Plains, NY; one son-in-law, Tommy Sweat; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; two sisters, one devoted Mary Belle Foster of Amelia, VA and Merrio Belton of White Plains, NY; two brothers, Haywood Ward and William Henry (Florence) Jenkins of Amelia, VA; two brothers-in-law, Martin Belton and Robert Archer of White Plains, NY; five sisters-in-law, Lena Mae Archer, Irene Archer, Mary Jeter of Amelia, VA, Dora Epps of Atlantic City, NJ and Fannie McBroom of Burlington, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, one devoted, Mason Archer, Jr., other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home Chapel, Amelia with interment in the Promise Land Baptist Church Cemetery, Amelia.
