Obituary for James W. Booth, Sr.

James W. Booth, Sr., departed this  life on Monday, December 30, 2013.  Son of the late Dossie and Bernice Booth, he was born on February 15, 1940.
He attended school in Nottoway County.  At an early age, he was baptized and joined Mt. Zion R.Z.U.A. Church in Blackstone, VA.
James was employed by the city of Baltimore, from which he retired, for over thirty years.  He loved baseball, relaxing and enjoying his family.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Booth, Jr.; two brothers, William and Joseph Booth.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Haskins (Michael) of Burkeville, VA and Nicole Booth of Chesterfield, VA; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one brother, Percy Booth of Burkeville, VA; two sisters, Alice Christopher (Richard) and Josephine Forrest (James “Cliff”) of Burkeville, VA; one sister-in-law, Rosa Booth of Blackstone, VA; William and Lawrence Curtis of Baltimore, MD whom he helped raised as his own; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, January 4, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Blackstone with interment to follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
