Obituary for James "Stevie" Lee
JAMES STEPHENSON LEE (Stevie) was called to eternal rest on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Medical College Hospital of Virginia. Son of the late Earnest and Martha Lee of Blackstone, VA, he was born on November 9, 1952 He joined the Mt. Zion RZUA Church at an early age and was educated in the Nottoway County Public Schools. He joined the United States army and received an Honorable Discharge in 1974. He then served in the United States Reserve, 275th Heavy Material Supply Company, Fort Pickett, VA. Stevie was a Certified Nursing Assistant, graduating from the Southside Training Center, Crewe, VA in 1975. He worked at Heritage Hall in Blackstone, VA and Piedmont Geriatric Hospital in Burkeville, VA. He would provide private duty services to the sick and elderly. He also worked at North American Reiss Corporation. Prior to his illness, he was very active in the community. He served as a coach and mentor for the Blackstone Athletic Association for the Wolverines Basketball and Flag Football teams. He was also a member of the American Legion for veterans. He was a devoted son. He took care of his ailing parents until their deaths. He was also a devoted father, brother and friend. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be remembered for his patience and kindness. He was fun loving and known for his swagger and fine dress. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving daughter, Marttwet Wilson (Juicy); his devoted son, Steven Wilson (Lil’Stevie); granddaughter, Jasmyne Moore; grandson, Darius Wilson; his siblings, Robert Jackson (Bobbie), Earnest Lee Jr. (Bug), Mary Maddox (Gin) and Lafayette Lee (Mickey); four aunts; three uncles; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a special friend, Mary Webb. Funeral Services Thursday, March 1, 2010 at 12:00 noon from Shiloh Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
