Obituary for James R. Ligon
JAMES ROBERT LIGON (Sonny) departed this life on August 3, 2010 at home with loved ones, as his last earthly request. He was born in Nottoway County, Virginia on March 14, 1935 to the late Irene Ligon Jeffers.
He was baptized at an early age at Fourth Mount Zion Baptist Church. He attended Nottoway County schools.
James lived a laid back easy going life. He was known for playing cards, and could outrun anyone who challenged him to a race.
He leaves to cherish his memories: three children, Nichol, Janel, and Timothy; six grandchildren whom he thought the world of; five brothers, Wilbur, William, Leon, Herbert (Audrey), and Tyrone (Nancy); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home, Blackstone with private burial.
