Obituary for James L. Fitzgerald, Sr.
We have gathered today under the wings of our Heavenly Father to honor and give praise to the life and memory of James Lee Fitzgerald, Sr. On Monday, May 18, 2020 James, Sr. entered peacefully into eternal rest.

“Jimmy Fitz” as he was affectionately called was born in Amelia County to the late Bossie and Mary Daisy Brown Fitzgerald. He was the third oldest of seven siblings. Jimmy was predeceased by his brother “Ed” in 2012. He was educated in the Amelia County Schools and graduated from Russell Grove High School.

“Jimmy Fitz” joined Manassa Hill Baptist Church at an early age.

“Jimmy Fitz” retired from AT Carr as a heavy equipment operator.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Shirley Lee Bowden on April 26, 1975.

“Jimmy Fitz” was a cool, neat (creased), fun, kind, loving, and friendly man. Jimmy could bring a smile to everyone he met. His passion was fishing, cooking, talking “stuff”, singing, dancing, and being around all his family and friends. His sister Polly named him as a singer of the Four Tops.

He leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, wife, Shirley Fitzgerald, mother, Mary Daisy Fitzgerald; three daughters, Sondra, Jaime, and Lauren; three sons, twins Jamelle (Melissa) & Jermaine, and James, Jr. (Shay); sisters, Mary Louise Worsham (Otis), Virginia (Polly) Bowden (Lemuel) and Patricia Bragg (Benjamin); brothers, Robert (Bonita) and Charles (Vicky); grandchildren, Jamelle, Antonio, LaTrice, Amir, Jaire, Jase, Alonda, Brooklyn, Elijah, and A’Riyah; sisters-in-law; Bessie, Clementine (Wallace); brothers-in-law, Moses (Shirley), Richard, Melvin (Cheryl); nieces (devoted Joyce Fitzgerald); nephews, cousins, and many friends (devoted Thomas Wilson & Wallace White).
