Obituary for James I. Lee, Jr.
James Ivory Lee, Jr., also known as "Lee, Son or Red" to many was born and raised in Blackstone, VA on December 23, 1941 to Willie Mae Lee and James Ivory Lee, Sr. He was the second oldest of his siblings after his sister Annie Mae Lee (deceased), and before sisters Roena Vereen and Alice Newberry, brother Morris Lee (deceased), sister Barbara Coleman, brother Clinton Lee (deceased), sister Theresa Day and his brother, Rodney Lee (deceased).

He attended Luther H. Foster High School in Blackstone, VA. Soon afterwards he relocated to New York in 1963. In 1965, James married Geraldine Battle.

James was loved by many for his sharp sense of style, serous yet fun loving nature and hard work ethic. He held various jobs before obtaining long term employment with the NYC Transit Authority until retirement.

James passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018 at 6:48 a.m. in Calvary Hospice in Bronx, NY. He leaves behind to mourn: his wife Geraldine Lee; daughters Charlotte Lee, Claudette Lee, Tasha Lee and Crystal Figueroa; son James Ivory Lee, II; son-in-law Malik Figueroa; daughter-in-law Ernsta Jerome-Lee; brothers-in-law, Richard Coleman and Michael Day; aunts Carrie Lee and Annie Lyons; uncle Gilbert Eppes; grandchildren, Shaquanna, Jervon, Lashaun, Jacquell, Chantelle, Kiara, Donovan, Joshua, Amauri and Aaden; six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other extended family members.

Funeral Service Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home
chapel, Blackstone. Interment Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
