Obituary for James Howard Marshall
On Thursday, September 11, 2008, Mr. James Howard “Snook” Marshall was peacefully called home after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Marshall was born to the late William B. and Sarah Marshall on March 5, 1937 in Dinwiddie, Virginia.
He was educated in Dinwiddie where he attended Southside High School. Mr. Marshall met, fell in love with and married Louise Jones, who preceded him in death. From this union was born Deborah, Jean and Kenneth.
Mr. Marshall started his career with C&P Telephone Company. He retired from Verizon. He joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Darvills, Virginia at an early age.
Mr. Marshall loved his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. From his friends and family he was affectionately called “Snook”. Baseball and Cadillac’s were his favorite past times.
He leaves to cherish his memory: three children, Deborah Marshall of Petersburg, VA, Jean Rives of Chesterfield, VA and Kenneth Marshall (Jes’Chelle) of Stafford, VA; six grandchildren, LaTarsha, William, Carlton, Caitlin, Kiana and Kiera; two great grandchildren, TaKieya and Alexia; three sisters, Eunice Ellison of Washington, DC, Susie Mitchell of Silver Springs, MD and Dorothy Marshall of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Robert Marshall of Washington, DC; one aunt, Rosa Mae Hawkes of Blackstone, VA and a special friend, Linda Washington of Laurel, MD, who was his primary caregiver during his hospitalization; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church Dinwiddie, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
W.E. Hawkes & Son Funeral Home of Blackstone was in charge of the arrangements.
