JAMES (JIMMY) EDWARD SINGLETARY departed this life on November 19, 2012 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Jimmy was born on May 20, 1939 in Bladenboro, NC to Gurnie and Alvata Singletary.
Jimmy attended Spaulding Monroe High School in Bladenboro, NC and later moved to New York where he worked for over 30 years at Rainbow Polybags in Brooklyn, NY as a faithful and dedicated employee.
Jimmy was a person that lived life to the fullest and was baptized at an early age and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Gurnie and Alvata Singletary; and two brothers, Gurnie Singletary and Livy Singletary.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Wanda Jackson-Singletary of Blackstone, VA; two sons, James Gregory Jackson-Singletary (Angie) of Lawrenceville, VA and Reginald Jackson (Iris) of Hampton, VA; one daughter, Keisha Gorham of Brooklyn, NY; five grandsons; three granddaughters; one step grandson; three step granddaughters; one brother, Benjamin Singletary (Mary) of Brooklyn NY; three sisters, Therese Singletary of Brooklyn, NY, Pearline Mays (Otis) of Long Island, NY and Vanilla Singletary of Queens, NY; five sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; special cousin and friend, William (Sugarboy) Singletary; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Pleasant Oak Baptist Church, Victoria with interment in the church cemetery.
