James Clinton Montague (Pete) of N. Chesterfield, VA passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2024. He was born in Amelia County, VA on October 20, 1951, to the late Barbara G. Jones and Clyde Montague.
James joined Little Union Baptist Church at an early age, he was active in Sunday School and served on the Usher Board. He was educated in Amelia County Public Schools, graduating in 1970. He retired after many years of employment with Philip Morris USA.
“Pete” enjoyed watching sports with his friends, keeping his cars clean, and of course was always known as a sharp dresser. He also loved the special time spent with his granddaughter Arriana before and after school.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Wilbur and Mary Alice Gibson who raised him as well as his Brother Richard Jones and Sister-in-law Brenda Pulliam (Anthony).
He leaves to cherish his memories; his Wife Etta Montague, three Daughters Angela Montague who was his primary caregiver until the time of his passing, Mellissa Montague (Kiana), DeAtra Martin (Jaquan); five Grandchildren Arriana Montague, Jayvion Bowles, Jaiden Bowles, Jaquan Martin Jr, and Daysha Martin, Brother Timothy Jones; Cousins Bercenia Smith, Lyndon, Reginald and Douglas Gibson; Brother-in-law, John Monroe (Addie) four Sisters-in -law, Alice Delaney (Frank), Margaret Bethune, Ruth Milner, and Carolyn Brown (Clayton); two Aunts, Laura Carter and Vera Gibson. Other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
