James Carlton Hill Sr. was born on September 10, 1952, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Jasper and Adell (Person) Hill.
James graduated from Brawley High School in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. From there he moved to Maryland and later years moved to Virginia.
On October 26, 1972 he married Barbara Jean Hill and to their union a son was born James Carlton Hill Jr.
On the early morning of Wednesday, June 7 2023, our beloved James Carlton Hill Sr. entered into eternal rest at his residence in Blackstone VA. James, affectionately known as “Puck” “Seymore” “Skinny” “Skinner” and Uncle “BangBang”
James worked at Fork McHenry Lumber in Baltimore, Maryland and later years after moving to Virginia he worked at Taylor Ramsey in Blackstone, Virginia
James was a fun person who loved to talk and laugh, would always have something to say and could make conversations with anybody.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jasper Sr. and Adelle Hill, brothers William Hill, Jasper Hill Jr., Anthony Hill Sr., Thurman Hill and sister Celestine Biggs.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and dedicated wife of fifty years Barbara Jean Hill; two sons Dante Hill (Jewel) and James Hill Jr. (Latrice); one daughter Pamela Stokes (James); ten grand children; 6 great grandchildren; one aunt Lillian Flood of Baltimore, Maryland; mother in law Lacy Fowlkes of Crewe, Virginia; his sisters Joyce Kirkland, Miriam Pittman, Hilda Frazier, Veronica Gaymon (Earl); brother Ricky Hill; his sisters-in-law Barbara Hill, Jewel Hill, Ruby Hill, Brenda Rather (Earl), Carolyn Stewart; brother in law Robert Fowlkes (Carolyn); and numerous nieces, nephews and a cousin Joyce Lyons; special cousin Melvin Lewis of New York and close friend Mr. Cloyd Tucker of Blackstone; several in-laws such as uncles and cousins that were like brothers to him.
