Obituary for James C. Garnes
Early Tuesday morning, April 25, 2017 the Lord came and lifted his child James Christopher Garnes (Buddy) in his loving arms and carried him to the eternal home he had prepared for him.
Buddy, son of the late Viola and Sam Garnes Sr. was born September 6, 1952. He was educated in the Nottoway County School System and graduated from Nottoway High School with the class of 1972. At an early age he joined and was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church.
Later in his adult life Buddy moved to New York City along with his brother Sam. He gained employment as a truck driver at the New York Garment District. Buddy met and married his wife Dreama Garnes. Buddy was a member of the masons. Later he was employed by the United States Postal Service as a truck driver, which gave him the opportunity to travel and meet new friends.
Buddy enjoyed life, family and God. He loved to travel back to Virginia for family reunions, birthday celebrations, fishing with his brothers-in-law or just to be with family. He loved his nieces and nephews, and they loved Uncle Buddy. You could call on him at anytime and he would assist you, even if its just conversation and guidance. Buddy had a beautiful smile and some white teeth. He was a warm hearted, kind, calm, gentle soul. He carried a fatherly instinct toward young people that crossed his path.
Buddy leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of 40 years Dreama Garnes; his sons Robert and James Jr.; his daughters, Theresa, Dominique, Sharlie, Tina and Natasha; a host of grandchildren and a special closeness to grandson Reagan (Chewy) whom he spent time caring for and watching grow; his devoted brother and best friend Sam (Carol); his loving sisters, Doretha, Lois, Mincy (Willie), Priscilla and Ruby; his devoted cat, Mouse and a host of devoted family and friends.
Buddy will forever be remembered as an extraordinary husband, brother, father, uncle, family member and friend.
