Obituary for James A. Bradshaw
James Andrew Bradshaw departed this life on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill, VA. He was born on April 6, 1938 in Nottoway County to Earl and Mamie Bradshaw.
He attended Luther H. Foster High School. James joined New Bethel Baptist Church in Crewe, VA at an early age. He later moved his membership to Pentecost Church of God in Christ where he served as head Deacon.
Mr. Bradshaw was self employed you can say, he owned his own taxi cab business, because every day he was taking someone to the doctor, to the store, or to work. He also worked for Ball’s Taxi Cab Company.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Earl and Mamie Bradshaw; his niece, Clarise Jennings; and a devoted friend, Ruth Bell.
He leaves to mourn: his son, Steve Jennings, two daughters, Deneitra (Joe) Whitaker and Mary Johnson Bell all of Blackstone, VA; four adopted kids, Patricia Taylor (Lewis), Robert, James and Mark Bell all of Blackstone, VA; three grandchildren, Shamel Johnson, Joe Whitaker, III and Jamar Coles all of Blackstone, VA; one great grandchild, Lashud Rouse of Blackstone, VA; three sisters, Lula B. (Griffen) Lewis of Windsor Mill, MD, Mary B. Hughes of Richmond, VA and Etta Jefferson of Burkeville, VA; two brothers, Cornell (Pauline) Bradshaw of Crewe, VA and Wilbur (Theresa) Oliver of Hopewell, VA; and a devoted friend, Lucy McFarland.
Funeral Services Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Pentecost Church of God in Christ, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery, Victoria.
