Obituary for Jacob w. Booker
Mr. Jacob Wesley Booker entered into his temporary home on March 25, 1941 and departed to his permanent home on January 6, 2014.
Jacob was known to many as “Jake”.  he attended Union Branch Baptist Church, and was baptized there on September 19, 1954.  Jacob was a 1959 graduate of Russell Grove High School in Amelia, VA.
In 1961 he married his first wife, Elsie (Judy) Patterson and from this union two daughters were born. 
Jacob was drafted into the United Stares Army where he fought in the Vietnam War and received three medals (National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Vietnam Service Medal).  Upon completion of the military and serving in the reserves, Jacob worked several construction jobs operating machinery. 
He was always excellent with his hands, building and repairing anything.  Jacob didn’t talk much, but was very knowledgeable.  He enjoyed hunting, watching western movies and being with his best friend Charles.
Preceding him in death was his first wife, Elsie Patterson Booker; his second wife, Zelda Davis Booker; his parents, Deacon Samuel Booker and Deaconess Hattie D. Booker; brothers, George, Allen Sr., and Robert Booker; stepsons, Oliver Patterson and Gregory Davis; nephew, Allen Booker, Jr.
He is survived by devoted daughters Angela Harris (Rydell) and Fonda Booker; step-daughters, devoted Pam Kearney (William) and Kim Purdie; brothers, Edward, Samuel III and James Booker (Dorothy); grandchildren, Rychell Harris, StanQuan Pittman, Anshae Harris and devoted Rykeius Harris; eight step-grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; one aunt, Rebecca Dean Woods; two nieces, Sherilyn Booker and Ishima Ford; one special devoted brother-friend, Charles James (wife Cherry) and four sons; several cousins and plenty of friends.
He will be missed by many, but his war is over.

Services for Mr. Booker will be Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home Chapel, Amelia with private burial.
