Obituary for Jacob H. Lipscomb
Jacob Harris Lipscomb entered into eternal rest and peace on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. Jacob known to many as “Jake” was born on May 31, 1936 to the late Stewart and Lillian Lipscomb.
Jacob accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined United Methodist Church in Hopewell, Virginia. Later in life, he joined Amelia Baptist Church in Rice, Virginia. He was educated in the Nottoway County School System and joined the United States Army in 1954. He served in the Korean War and received an Honorable Discharge. He later returned to Nottoway County and enjoyed farming. Jacob was a member of the Black Farmers Association.
Jacob is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Daisy Lipscomb, two sons, Gregory Lipscomb of Philadelphia and Joseph Lipscomb (Shonda) of North Carolina, a stepson, Charles Price (Angelique) of Fredericksburg, Virginia, a stepdaughter, Dr. Daisy Marie Hicks of Crewe, Virginia, Bernard Knight who was like a son of Alberta, Virginia, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Flossie Mohammed of Crewe, Virginia and Shirley Teal of Maryland, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins, one sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bland, and two brother-in-laws, Joseph Rice (Cora) and Calvin Rice of Rice, Virginia. The family is very thankful for his dedicated Caregiver, Kimberly Lewis of Amelia, Virginia and all the staff of Hospice of Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, Amelia.
