India Virginia Sears of Williamsburg, VA formerly of Blackstone passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Bell Holloway, she was born February 28, 1929.
India attended Nottoway County public schools. She accepted Christ at an early age at Cellar Creek Baptist Church, Blackstone, VA. After moving to Williamsburg, VA, she joined Mount Gilead Baptist Church where she was an active member until her illness.
India worked for Colonial Williamsburg and also did domestic work.
India was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Albert Sears; two sons Clarence Albert Sears, Jr. and Franklin Abraham Sears; three brothers Richard A., Joseph C. and Charlie L. Holloway; best friend Aunt Bertha Davis
Granny Gen or Aunt Jenny as she was often called, leaves to cherish her memory: one son Richard H. Sears, granddaughters Nadia Sears Pulliam (Bobbie) and LaRanda Bright, three great grandchildren CaLin Sears, Caneesha Bartlett and Cadeyja Bartlett, and daughter-in-law Cynthia Givens Sears all of Williamsburg, VA; one brother James A. Holloway of Detroit MI; two sisters Thelma Holloway and Ida Alberta Frazier, both of Richmond, VA; one aunt Roberta Bolling of Burkeville, VA; one uncle Richard Bell of Blackstone, VA; two sisters-in-law, Reverend Addie Holloway of Amelia, VA and Mary Wallace Holloway of Richmond, VA; one devoted friend Jane H. Harris of Williamsburg, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Cellar Creek Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment to follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Blackstone.
