Obituary for Howard Lafayette Edmonds
On Wednesday morning June 4, 2008 at 5:45 a.m. God summoned his faithful and committed servant home from labouring here on earth. Our beloved, Howard Lafayette Edmonds, also known as Daddy Hubbard or Pop Edmonds, son of the late Peter and Missouri Peace Edmonds was born September 9, 1910.
He attended the public schools of Amelia County, Virginia. At an early age he confessed Christ and became a member of the Mount Level Baptist Church, Amelia County, Virginia. There at Mount Level, he served God, his church and community in various auxiliaries to include the Missionary Board, Usher Board and teaching Sunday School.
He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife Sally Ann Edmonds of seventy-five years; his daughter, Laura Wilson; and eight siblings.
He leaves to cherish a legacy of precious memories: his children, Howard Edmonds Jr. (Frances), Corine Miller (Howard), Pinkie Jefferson (Robert), Richard Edmonds (Rebecca), Jimmie Edmonds all of Blackstone and Willard Edmonds (Pearl) of Ford; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-five great grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren; one sister, Effie Crayton of Amelia; two brothers, Marvin Edmonds (Helen) of Killeen, Texas and Wilson Edmonds of Hopewell, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Bertha Hayes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Level Baptist Church, Amelia with interment in the church cemetery.
