Obituary for Howard L. "Penny" Coleman
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)        Howard Leroy (Penny) Coleman was born July 24, 1959 in Nottoway County, Virginia to Ms. Jeanette Coleman.        Howard was educated in the Nottoway County School System, attended St. Paul College in Lawrenceville and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in business.  At an early age, he began his Christian walk.  He was baptized at Cedar Hill Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Manassa Hill Baptist Church where he was a faithful member until his illness.  He was a member of the Male Chorus and a member of the Missionary Ministry.        Howard bore his illness patiently and gracefully, never complaining and would often try to make his loved ones feel he was not suffering.  Rather, he chose to tell the Lord about his suffering.        He departed this life on Friday, October 19, 2007.          Howard leaves the celebrate and thank God for his beautiful life:  a devoted son, Roderick Fowlkes; a loving mother, Jeanette Coleman; a devoted brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Gloria Coleman; seven sisters, Helen (James) Thompson, Diann Curtis, Jackie (Jerry) Bowler, Juanita (Frank) Woodley, Jr., Harriett Lawrence, Angie and  Darlene Coleman; five brothers, James Roger (Ethel), Wilbert (Carolyn), Jesse and Corey (LaTonya); two grandchildren, Rodre' and Keona Fowlkes; three aunts, Mary Booker, Frances (Howard) Edmonds and Elizabeth Coleman; two grand children, Charita and Tierra Coleman; a devoted cousin, Samuel Wilson, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from Manassa Hill Baptist Church, Amelia, VA with interment in the church cemetery.Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home, Amelia in charge of the arrangements.
