Obituary for Hiram J. Dickerson, III
On Wednesday evening July 26, 2017 God called his soldier Hiram J. Dickerson III (Tom) aka “Papa Stoppa” to eternal rest. He was born to the late Hiram and Louise Dickerson. He was preceded in death by a sister Mary Crowder and two brothers, Benny and John Dickerson.
At an early age he joined Union Branch Baptist Church and recently moved his membership to fellowship at Little Union Baptist Church where he became a faithful member until his health failed. He was well known in helping others and serving family, friends, and the community with a willing heart.
Hiram worked at StanCraft Metal Cabinet Company in Richmond until it closed. He also worked in pulpwood at Glenwood Farms until he retired. His hobbies were watching westerns, baseball and spending time with his family and friends. Hiram held the gates during baseball games at the Frankie Tyler Baseball Diamond.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of fifty-one years. Joyce LouAnn Dickerson; daughters, Hope (Willie), Natalie (Junnie), Diane (Hilton); one son Javon Dickerson; grandchildren, Xavier, Deshonda, Janai, Isaiah and Kierra; great grandchildren, Za’Khari, ZaYona, Zayden and Yara; goddaughter Tierra Barley; siblings, Florene Bailey of Amelia, VA, Shirley Trent (Johnny) of Cumberland, VA, Robert Dickerson (Sallie) of Amelia, VA; brothers-in-law, Vernon Wilkerson of New Kent, VA, Roland Wilkerson of Powhatan, VA; sisters-in-law, Gracie B. Wilkerson of Henrico County, VA, Priscilla Wilkerson of Powhatan, VA and Mary Ann Jackson of Amelia, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service Monday, July 31, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Little Union Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment church cemetery.
