Herman Matthew Jackson, affectionately known as “Bru” and “Uncle Buck,” peacefully departed this life on January 5, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on February 9, 1945, in Burkeville, VA, to the late Herman Jackson and Estelle Sydnor Jackson.
Herman was educated in the Nottoway Schools of Nottoway, VA, and also attended school in Baltimore, Maryland. His education laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and dedication.
He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 54 years, the late Willa Patricia Jackson. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Herman worked at Kerr Concrete Pipe Inc. in Folsom, NJ, for 46 years before retiring in 2006. He was well-respected for his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft.
Outside of work, Herman found great joy in the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and cutting wood—activities that brought him peace and fulfillment. He also had a deep appreciation for his wife’s cooking and treasured spending time with his family and friends. His warmth, wisdom, and sense of humor left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
At a young age, Herman was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church in Burkeville, VA, where he developed a strong faith that remained with him throughout his life.
