Obituary for Herbert H. Hardy, Sr.
Herbert H. Hardy, Sr., son of the Late John and Pattie Shelton Hardy was born on November 1, 1930 in Lunenburg, VA.  He departed this life on Friday, November 21,2014, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blackstone, VA.
Herbert was educated and graduated from Luther H. Foster High School in Nottoway, VA.  He joined the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged after serving in the Korean War.
Herbert retired from the Virginia Corrections System
Herbert, at an early age confessed Christ as his personal Savior.  He was faithful member of Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church.
Deacon Hardy served the Lord in gladness. He served as Chairman of the Board until his health began to failed.  He also served as a Trustee, Advisor for the Senior and Junior Missionaries, Sexton of the church for years, Chairperson of the “Family and Friends Day”, and was a dedicated Bible Study attendee.  He never missed Bible Study until his health failed.
Deacon Hardy was distinct as he blessed the hearts and soul of all who came in contact with him.  This awesome man of God filled his life with love and inspiration, especially to his family who were dear to his heart.
Deacon Hardy was a loving and unselfish impact to his community as he thrived to lend a helping hand as an outreach to those who were in need.
Deacon Herbert H. Hardy, Sr. was preceded in death by a daughter, Neldonia Tucker and a son-in-law, Bernard Tuck, but leaves to cherish his memories:  his devoted wife of sixty years, Rozelia Y. Hardy; daughter, Gwen Tuck; sons, Herbert H. Hardy, Jr. (Tonya), and Alfonza Hardy; grandchildren, Tiana Tucker, very devoted, Awan Hardy, Alfonza Hardy, Jr., Alex Hardy, Lolita Hardy, Nicole Hardy, Shelton Hardy and Davyan Lewis; adopted granddaughter, Cierra Rhoades; great grandchildren, Trevond Parker and Leila Johnson; brother, Portress Hardy; son-in-law, Francis Tucker; a host of sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Lucille Campbell, Ethel Roy, Virgie Yates, James Yates (Elsie), Rudolph Yates (Stephanie); devoted nieces, Monica Frisby and Rachel Lewis; devoted cousin, Jessie Maddux; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
 Funeral Services Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the church cemetery.
