Obituary for Henrietta H. Hawkes
Henrietta H. Hawkes entered eternal rest and peace on August 28, 2012. She was born in Nottoway County, Virginia on May 17, 1925 to the late Godfrey and Victoria Hawkes. She was preceded in death by one brother, Lafayette Hawkes, one sister, Francis L. Irby and a grandson, Michael Brooks.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 62 years Joe Hawkes; one daughter and son-in-law Joanne and Samuel Wilson of Vine Grove, KY; one son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Carla Hawkes of Petersburg, VA; 5 grandchildren, Ebony, Delaney, Latoya (Joe), Tihairra and Jamaal; 5 great grandchildren, Zyen, Lataja, Jasmine, D’Yoni and Isaiah; 2 sisters, Catherine Hawkes and Lucille Turner and 1 brother-in-law, Alvin Hawkes, all of Blackstone, VA. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Blackstone. Interment church cemetery. The only viewing will be at the church from 12 noon to 1p.m prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to: Hospice of Virginia, Cedar Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, Christian Broadcast Network Feed the Children or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
