Obituary for Helen C. Oliver
On June 24, 2011, Mrs. Helen Clark Oliver of 829 Armstine Court in Virginia Beach, Virginia peacefully entered into eternal rest and peace. At 7:45 a.m., God looked down on Sentara Bayside Hospital in Virginia Beach and said, “Helen, take my hand and follow me”, Helen smiled and said, “yes sir”. Helen was born on August 23, 1960. She was the daughter of Frank and Rosa Lee C lark of Blackstone, Virginia. Her father, Frank preceded her in death. Helen’s father-in-law, LeeRoyal Oliver and her sister-in-law, Barbara Oliver Burton also preceded her in death.
Helen received her education in the Nottoway County Public School System and attended Norfolk State University for two years. At an early age she gave her life to the Lord and became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Blackstone, Virginia. She worked at the Norfolk International Airport until her health failed.
In 1983 Helen married Larry Oliver from Crewe, Virginia. They were married for twenty-eight years. She and Larry have two children and one grandson.
In 2003 Helen retired from her job because of her disability. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her grandson, traveling to visit family and friends. She always loved to read her bible and she enjoyed her church service when she could attend.
Helen leaves to mourn her precious memory: her husband, Larry; one son, Larry Jr. (Little Larry); one daughter, Charmeka; one grandson, TrayShawn; her mother, Rosa Lee Clark; one sister, Olivia Friend (Vincent); her mother-in-law, Thomasine Oliver; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Oliver Downs (Issac) of Chesterfield, Virginia and Ivory Oliver of Burkeville, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Oliver (Sarah) of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jason Oliver (LaTonya) of Chesterfield, Virginia; six aunts, Annie Graise of Petersburg, Virginia, Hattie Brown (Ernest) of Petersburg, Virginia, Elizabeth Davis (Norman) of Petersburg, Virginia, Rebecca Irby (Conrad) of Blackstone, Virginia, Virginia Dudley of Baltimore, Maryland and Yolanda Harvey (Charlie) of Baltimore, Maryland; one uncle, Thomas Peace of Baltimore, Maryland; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Jackson Cemetery, Crewe.
