Obituary for Helen B. Stith
On Monday, September 14, 2009, our hearts were saddened by the loss of our loved one Helen B. Stith, but God’s Garden was seeded with a beautiful new flower.
Helen B. Stith “KAT” was born May 27, 1945 in Crewe, Va. to the late Charlie and Ethel Belle. She was one of nine children that accepted Christ at an early age. She spent much of her life in Crewe, Va. She relocated to Chesterfield and then Richmond, where she resided until she was called from this life and planted in God’s Garden.
Helen “ Kat” was educated in Nottoway County Public Schools. She graduated from the Luther H. Foster High in 1965.She later attended the Southside Vocational Skill Center where she received instruction in clerical skills. Helen worked in several areas of industrial work but, found her assignment to be working with people. She worked at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital for many years, and then transferred to the Chesterfield County Department of Mental Health and Retardation until she retired due to her failing health. Helen had a great love of family and friends. She enjoyed participation in group activities with the Chesterfield Senior Center where she was a member for 7 years, a volunteer and a great BINGO player. She enjoyed being around her family and friends, working on puzzles, dining out, but most of all Helen loved people. She exemplified strength, courage and determination to all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two loving and devoted children, Kevin Belle and Tracey Stith, both of Richmond, Va, one brother, John Belle (Edna Mae), of Crewe, VA, two sisters: Lucille Jackson of Dallas, TX, and Edith “Doretha” Furman of Petersburg, VA., two devoted nieces, Evelyn V Womack of Petersburg, Va., and Brenda Belle of Hopewell, Va., devoted and loyal friends, Quincy ”House” King, Brenda Johnson and Catherine Eastern.
