Obituary for Haywood Jr. Patterson
Haywood Patterson, Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at his home. He was born June 10, 1935 in Amelia County, VA to the late Haywood Patterson, Sr. and Lucille Stewart Patterson.Haywood attended school in Amelia County. At an early age Haywood was baptized and became a member of Branches Runn Baptist Church. He worked many years at Hungee Ford Plumbing in Richmond, VA. He ended his working career employed by the Town of Blackstone where he tetired at the age of sixty-two with five years and eleven months of service. After retiring he became a self employed plumber throughout the community.He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gracie Venable; a brother, Crawley Milton Patterson, Sr.; grandsons, Adam Claiborne and Antoino Elder.His memory will be cherished by: his wife Morine; ten children: Gwendolyn (Kevin) Craig of Blackstone; Floreace Claiborne of McKenney; Gertie Elder, Linda Worsham both of Richmond; Wanda Coleman of Henrico; Milton Elder of Blackstone; Sherwood, Cynthia, George Patterson and Sherry (Kevin) Brown all of Richmond; sons-in-law, Jack Worsham, Jr. and Randolph Coleman of Richmond; twenty grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; one great-great grandson, Deshun Worsham; one brother, Allen Patterson (Allyne) of Blackstone; mother-in-law, Gladys Elder of Blackstone; five sisters-in-law, Clara Bussie (Leon) of New York, Elnora Crowder of Maryland, Corrine Patterson, Gertrude and Shirley Elder of Blackstone; three brothers-in-law, Charles Elder of Blackstone, Danny (Renee) of Henrico and Roosevelt Elder of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; a devoted nephew, Jeffrey Patterson of Blackstone; a devoted friend David Jones, who stood by him until the end.Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Jerusalem Baptist Church, Blackstone with interment in the Branches Runn Baptist Church Cemetery, Amelia.W.E.
