Obituary for Hattie Alice Booker
Mrs. Hattie Alice Corine Booker entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family. Born to the late Robert and Nora Booker on August 29, 1940, Hattie, most often referred to as Alice, was the baby girl of nine children and attended Russell Grove High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she faithfully sang on the Senior Choir.

On November 6, 1960, Alice married the love of her life, Samuel N. Booker, Sr. and from their union, they were blessed with four sons. She was a dedicated employee at the Amelia County Elementary School and retired in 2012 after 30 years of impeccable service.

Alice was a God-fearing, soft-spoken woman whose smile warmed the hearts of many. She will be forever remembered for her sweet, nurturing spirit, as well as the love and kindness she always showed to those blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Jim and Arthur, four sisters, Emma, Mary, Frances, and Dorothy, and her grandson, John.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Samuel N. Booker, Sr.; four sons: Wilbert (Darlene), Roy, Garland (Alfornia), and Sam (Tara); eight grandchildren: Tracey (Walter), Anthony (Chantel), Meagan, Antonio, Arman, Garland “Rayshawn,” Ametria and Ashanti; eleven great-grandchildren, two brothers: Raymond and Samuel, three brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, a dedicated niece, Shirley Carter and a host of family and friends.

Graveside Services Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church, Jetersville, VA.

Michael W. Hawkes Funeral Home of Amelia in charge of arrangements.
