A Time to Be Born

Harvey Lavell Greenhill was born on March 5, 1947, to the late James and Geraldine Greenhill in Dinwiddie County, Virginia.

A Time to Plant

Harvey was educated in the Dinwiddie County Public School System. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Harvey Lavell Greenhill, Jr., (Shane) Greenhill.

A Time to Embrace

At an early age he began his Christian walk at Poplar Lawn Baptist Church.

A Time to Build

Harvey was blessed with three beautiful children Benita, Harvey, Jr., and Danyel from a previous marriage. On March 7, 1998, he married the love of his life Loretta Greenhill. From his marriage with Loretta, he gained three bonus children Levar, LaVette, and Evette. Harvey loved his family dearly but his love for his grandchildren was unmatched. Harvey loved fishing, gardening, cutting grass, keeping his truck clean, coloring, watching the Commanders (Redskins) on Sundays, and watching his favorite television shows. During Harvey’s younger years he was a standout baseball player with the Swamp Fox Baseball Team. He retired from Philip Morris USA.

A Time to Mourn

Early Monday morning April 21, 2025, Harvey, quietly and peacefully answered God’s call to come home to his eternal rest, after a brief illness.

Harvey leaves to celebrate and thank God for his wife Loretta Greenhill of Blackstone, Virginia; his daughter, Benita Cary (Kenny) of Prince George, Virginia; son Danyel Greenhill (Linda) of Warfield, Virginia; bonus son, Levar Graham of Richmond, Virginia; two bonus daughters, LaVette Hawkes (Sherwood) of Chesterfield, Virginia; Evette Sellars of Blackstone, Virginia; six grandsons, Kenny Cary, Jr., of Prince George, Virginia; Hassan Greenhill of  Wakefield, Virginia; Ershawn Goodson Jr., (adopted son) of Blackstone, Virginia; Isaiah Graham of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; Luca Graham of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; Chase Hawkes of Chesterfield, Virginia; seven granddaughters, Kaitlyn Cary of Prince George, Virginia; Ashanti Graham of Blackstone, Virginia; Gabrielle Graham of Chester, Virginia; Neila Graham of Chester, Virginia; Jaidyn Edwards of Blackstone, Virginia; Adrienne Wilson of Warfield, Virginia; one great-grandson Elijah Cary of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two brothers, James Greenhill of DeWitt, Virginia; Arthur Greenhill (Katrina) of Chester, Virginia; one sister Patricia Greenhill of Dinwiddie, Virginia; two aunts, Ruth Brown of Maryland; Amber Angel of Maryland; three sister in-laws, Louise Evans of Blackstone, Virginia; Delphine Yates of Blackstone, Virginia; Madeline Yates of Chesterfield, Virginia; one brother in-law, Kevin Jones of Chesterfield, Virginia; two devoted nieces, Patrice Greenhill of Chester, VA and Sheryl Harris of New Jersey; two devoted friends, Ernest Hawkes of Blackstone, Virginia; Jessie Vance of Blackstone, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved dearly.
