Obituary for Grace D. Mitchell
Grace “Dee Dee” Pegram Mitchell went to be with her Heavenly Father early in the morning hours on Saturday, February 29 at Johnston Willis Hospital with her family by her side. She was born June 24, 1959 in Yonkers, New York.
Dee Dee was preceded in death by her mother, Sara P. Faulkner; sister, Fannie P. Lyles and brothers, Wendall Pegram and Ronald Faulkner. She joined the Little Bethel Baptist church at an early age where she was a member of the choir and usher’s ministry. She attended the Amelia County Public schools and later in life drove school bus until her health began to fail. Dee Dee loved people and spent her early years babysitting many children and caring for the elderly in their homes as a nurse’s aide.
On April 19, 2003, she was joined in holy matrimony to Franklin L. Mitchell.
Dee Dee leaves to cherish her memories: Her Husband Franklin, daughter LeRonda Jefferson, father James N. Faulkner; brothers James E. and Jesse Faulkner, and Kevin Pegram, of Yonkers, New York; sisters, Virginia Ann Robinson and Gracie F. Mitchell (Craig); grandchildren, DaLauna Amari, DaJaun Antoine, and Dylan Ashton; stepdaughters, Andrea Mitchell and Latonya Lightfoot; step-grandchildren, DaQuan Mitchell and Khira Scott. A host of dedicated nieces, nephews, and devoted friends Lavern Pegram-Jefferson and Margaret Owens.
Funeral Services Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Amelia. Interment private.
